”Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has had no better friend than Vladimir Putin’s Russia. Just this week, three Russian ships reportedly headed to reinforce the Syrian port of Tartus. Meanwhile, the head of Russia’s arms control export company ominously declared that the Syrian regime had been supplied with an advanced-missile defense system — ”whoever is planning an attack should think about this,” he said.”

IKFF US: Rundabordsamtal om USA:s nationella plan för resolution 1325

Den 6 juni ordnade IKFF US ett rundabordsamtal om USA:s nationella plan för resolution 1325. Deltagare var flera kongressledamöter, USA:s ambassadör för globala kvinnorättsfrågor, Melanne Verveer, samt representanter från det civila samhället. IKFF fokuserade på en ökad koppling mellan militarism och kvinnors säkerhet, inte minst i USA.

Statement by WILPF on Death Plot Against Human Rights Defender Asma Jahangir

On 4 June 2012, news was released of a death plot orchestrated by the Pakistani security forces against human rights lawyer and leading human rights defender Asma Jahangir. As agents of the State, such action would bring dishonour on the State of Pakistan.

WILPF calls upon the Pakistan authorities and leaders to ensure its compliance with its international human rights obligations and ensure that rights, of MS Jahangir, and all human rights defenders, are upheld.
